MSPE 274 - Supervised Teaching for Teachers Certified in Another Subject Area
Semester Hours: 3
Fall, Spring, Summer
Supervision of M.S. in Physical Education students currently certified
in a subject matter other than physical education and seeking New York
state teacher certification in physical education (Pre-K-12). Students
demonstrate teaching at both Pre-K/elementary and middle/high school
levels. Placement at both levels is required. Seminars, including
special seminars for certification on topics such as child abuse and
maltreatment; prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse; safety
education; fire and arson prevention; and violence prevention are
required. Permission is needed to complete physical education
requirements and for supervisory observations by University staff if
completing assignments in a school where they are employed.
Prerequisites & Course Notes
Pass/Fail grade only. Applications may be obtained at the Office of
Field Placement.
