WSC 30 - Business Communication

Semester Hours: 3
Fall, Spring
Open to interested students from any major, this course is aimed at students considering a business major or any career in the business or professional worlds. The course provides an examination of and systematic practice in business and professional writing strategies and styles, helping students determine the writing strategies that will be most effective in any particular interpersonal and organizational context. The course emphasizes mastery of professional language, application of logical reasoning skills to business writing, and development of digital and traditional research skills. This course also considers matters of structure and tone and introduces issues of ethics and psychology as they apply to business writing.

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
WSC 1 . Successful completion of Writing Proficiency Exam. Required for all business majors who entered Hofstra prior to the fall semester of 1996. May not be used to satisfy the general University humanities requirement. Same as ENGL 30.
