HED 222 - Strategies for Teaching Health Content, K-12

Semester Hours: 3
This course focuses attention on the various teaching and learning styles and the use of technology in the preparation of learning experiences that enhance students’ mastery of content and ability to develop skills for implementing healthy behaviors. Innovating cooperative learning environments, affective and experiential strategies, portfolios, etc., as well as traditional models of health behavior change instruction are explored within the various content areas. Students develop learning experiences and means of measuring students’ progress that are sensitive to individual student needs.

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
A 25-hour field experience is required. (Formerly MHAE 243, Health Education: Teaching and Learning Styles and Environments; Health Education: Innovative Teaching and Learning and Implementing Health Education Curricula, Grades 6-12.)
