LAW 2992 - Immigration and Crime: A Comparative Perspective - The United States and Europe


The course will focus on the intersection between immigration and crime in the United States and various European countries.  It will cover the increasing criminalization of immigrants on both sides of the Atlantic, the public perception of the level and types of crimes committed by immigrants, and the treatment of immigrant offenders – and victims – in the criminal justice and immigration systems.  The course will focus on the interplay between the immigration and the criminal justice system as well as differences and similarities between the two systems.  The course aims to provide a comparative perspective and is particularly suited for students interested in immigration and criminal law.

Pre-Req: None.

Note: This course is to be taught in the Freiburg Summer Program.
