LAW 3987 - Wrongful Convictions The course is designed to study: (1) the history of wrongful convictions; (2) the causes of wrongful convictions; (3) what legal and
scientific mechanisms are used to uncover and expose wrongful convictions; (4) the potential remedies for minimizing, as much as humanly possible, future wrongful convictions, but at the same time not minimizing the likelihood of accurate convictions; (5) how States compensate the wrongly convicted; and (6) how different countries expose, learn from, and deal with wrongful convictions.
