ASTR 014F - First-Year Seminar

Semester Hours: 3-4
Fall
This course gives first-year students the opportunity to work in a seminar format with a member of the faculty in an area of the faculty member’s research interests. Students in daytime sections will be required to attend several evening observing sessions during the semester, dynamically scheduled to account for the weather. (2 hours lecture, 2 hours laboratory.) 

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
The course is open to first-year students only. Topics vary by semester. Students should have a working knowledge of high-school algebra, as demonstrated by placement into MATH 050  on the BA math placement exam. Students may take only one 014F or 012F seminar and only one 014S or 012S seminar. Lab fee additional.
