Minor in Italian Studies

A Minor in Italian Studies is an interdisciplinary program which explores the richness and variety of Italian culture as it developed in Italy and influenced other societies, notably the United States. The course of study focuses attention on academic courses offered by various departments as well as on programs such as Summer in Italy, and Italian Heritage Day.

Minor Requirements - Total Semester Hours: 18


The program consists of the successful completion of 18 semester hours of required and elective courses listed below and six hours in residence.

A. Required


  • HIST 6P    Ancient Italy, 1 s.h.
  • HIST 6Q   Christian Italy, 1 s.h.
  • HIST 6R    National Italy, 1 s.h.

B. Electives Chosen From the Following - Semester Hours: 6-9


6-9 semester hours chosen from the following:

  • HIST 6S    The Italian-American Immigrant, 1 s.h.
