Global Studies, B.A. Major in

Semester Hours - Minimum: 33


The B.A. specialization in global studies consists of a minimum of 33 semester hours in global studies distributed as follows:

2. Elective Courses: Semester Hours: 9 to 12


At least 9 s.h. (but no more than 12 s.h.), in addition to the required courses, from the electives in global economics, politics and culture. Any course not currently listed under global economics, politics and culture, but approved by the chairperson of Global Studies, may be counted toward these 9 s.h.
 

3. Regional Area Studies Electives: Semester Hours: 9 to 12


At least 9 s.h. (but no more than 12 s.h.), from the regional area studies electives and/or any courses listed under the regional courses in the B.A. major in geography (these courses may not also be counted toward a minor/major in geography). At least 6 s.h. must cover the same region. Any course not listed, but approved by the chairperson of Global Studies may be counted toward these 9 s.h.

4. Maximum of 12 s.h. in one academic discipline


A maximum of 12 s.h. of courses taken in any one academic discipline may be used toward the 33 s.h. needed for the major. Classes that have the GS designation or are required courses are excluded from this restriction.

5. A final grade of C- or better


is required for each course.

6. A Minor


consisting of 18 s.h., taken in an academic discipline.

7. Minor courses


Courses taken in the minor may not be applied toward the major.
