Residence Hall Accommodations
Students registering for summer session classes can live on-campus in Bill of Rights Hall. This is a traditional residence hall, with the lounge areas recently refurbished to enhance this high-rise environment. Kitchen facilities are available on the 12th floor for residents. The kitchen will prove to be an ideal place to prepare or share a meal with members of the Bill of Rights Hall community, with a view overlooking Hofstra’s campus and the surrounding community. The building is staffed by resident success representatives and RAs on duty each evening from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following morning. Rooms are furnished with a bed, mattress, desk, desk chair, desk light, and wardrobe/closet. Residence hall accommodations also include access to Hofstra’s computer network and local telephone access. Bill of Rights Hall is air-conditioned to ensure your comfort while residing on campus this summer.
Applying for Housing
The application for summer housing will be available as of April 22, 2024. To apply for on-campus housing, please visit the Office of Residence Life website for detailed instructions on accessing the summer housing application and payment information. Assignments are made on a date-received basis, with priority given to students enrolled in classes, returning Hofstra resident students, and those students required to reside on campus. Roommate requests are considered only when both applications are submitted with students requesting each other.
Notification of Housing Assignments
Assignments will be made in early May and will continue until all beds are filled. Students will be contacted by email with their summer assignments to their Hofstra Pride email accounts.
Summer Session Housing Policies
Summer residents are subject to all Residence Life policies and procedures that are in effect during the regular academic year. Please visit the Residence Life website at hofstra.edu/reslife for additional information and policies regarding on-campus living.
Summer Storage
Storage space is not available on campus for the summer housing period. Students are encouraged to research storage facilities within the area to secure summer storage.
Renters Insurance
All residents are encouraged to purchase renter’s insurance to ensure the safety of their belongings. The University does not reimburse students for lost or damaged items.
Dining Plans
There are a few dining dollars contract plans available to all summer students, but the purchase of a dining dollars contract plan is not mandatory. Meals are also available on a cash basis at the Mack Student Center and other campus restaurants. Students wishing to purchase a dining dollars contract plan may make these arrangements through the Office of Residence Life.
