Course selection is made with the approval of the adviser.
Concentration Option: Aerospace Engineering
The Concentration in Aerospace Engineering aims to educate mechanical engineering students in the performance and design of aerospace systems.
Concentration Program Requirements – Semester Hours: 12
To satisfy the requirements of the aerospace concentration, four courses within this program must be satisfied from the following list of courses:
ENGG 116 - Compressible Flow Semester Hours: 3
ENGG 129 - Mechanical Vibrations Semester Hours: 3
ENGG 138 - Propulsion Semester Hours: 3
ENGG 140 - Aircraft Performance Semester Hours: 3
ENGG 143E - Aircraft Design Semester Hours: 3
ENGG 145 - Aerodynamics Semester Hours: 3
ENGG 146 - Aircraft Stability Semester Hours: 3
Concentration Option: Energy Engineering
The Concentration in Energy Engineering is aimed at educating mechanical engineering students in the analysis and design of energy systems with a goal of reducing energy consumption and using renewable and alternative energy systems. Further, the concentration provides students with skills and knowledge applicable for careers in Energy Engineering, an important specialization in the greater New York region.
Concentration Program Requirements – Semester Hours: 12
To satisfy the requirements of the aerospace concentration, four courses within this program must be satisfied from the following list of courses:
ENGG 123 - Alternative and Renewable Energy Systems Semester Hours: 3
ENGG 143F - Heating, ventilation and Air-conditioning (HVAC) Design Semester Hours: 3
ENGG 143M - Building Energy Envelope Audit and Design Semester Hours: 3
ENGG 174 Energy Converstion Semester Hours: 3
Concentration Option: Mechatronics Engineering
The Concentration in Mechatronics Engineering is aimed at educating mechanical engineering students in technology intergration to achieve optimal system functionality. A physical/mathematical model is created and used as a virtual prototype complete with sensors, autuators, controls, electronics, and plant. Successful computer simulation of the virtual prototype leads to the creation of a successful working hardward prototype and prepares the students to be multidisciplinary 21st century mechatronics engineers.
Concentration Program Requirements – Semester Hours: 12
To satisfy the requirements of the mechatronics concentration, four courses within this program must be satisfied from the following list of courses:
ENGG 142 - Mechatronic System Design
ENGG 143D - Design of Multidisciplinary Engineering Systems
ENGG 179 - Control Systems Engineering
ENGG 161 - Introduction to Robotics
