Hofstra is a selective institution seeking to enroll those students who demonstrate the academic ability, intellectual curiosity, and motivation to succeed, and contribute to the campus community. Hofstra enrolled almost 2,500 new students of whom 1,774 are first-time undergrads in 2005-2006.

Bachelor’s degrees offered in about 140 undergraduate programs of study. Graduate degrees are offered, including PhD., Ed.D., Psy.D., Au.D. and J.D. degrees, advanced certificates and professional diplomas, in about 150 graduate programs of study.

Bachelor of Arts in fields such as the humanities, fine arts, communications, education, natural sciences, mathematics, computer science, engineering and social sciences, with courses offered to provide a pre-professional and professional background in law, medicine, health, or education; Bachelor of Fine Arts with specialization in theater arts; Bachelor of Business Administration with specializations such as accounting, finance, legal studies in business, international business, entrepreneurship, business computer information systems, management, and marketing; Bachelor of Engineering with specializations in engineering sciences; Bachelor of Science in scientific-technical programs and programs such as business economics, fine arts, mathematics, computers, music, communications, athletic training, exercise specialist, health education, and physician assistant; Bachelor of Science in Education with specializations such as fine arts, music, and physical education. Women’s sports include basketball, cross-country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. The football program competes at the NCAA Division I-AA level in the Atlantic 10 Football Conference. All other sports compete at the NCAA Division I level in the Colonial Athletic Association. |
