The Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is made up of the Division of the Humanities; the Division of the Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Science; and the Division of the Social Sciences. It is an underlying assumption of all liberal arts courses that we must make ourselves aware of, and evaluate, the ends toward which we apply our intellectual efforts and develop our feelings. Liberal arts courses stress the development of clarity of expression, power of discovery and creative imagination.
Programs in the College of Arts and Sciences are accredited by the American Chemical Society, the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, the American Psychological Association, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

New College is one of the colleges at Hofstra University offering both a bachelor and master of arts degree to students sharing its commitment to the intellectual and practical dimensions of the liberal arts. It assists its students in achieving their liberal arts goals through a curriculum more individualized in response to student needs and interests, more flexible in structure and more varied in modes of learning. Students who wish to enroll in a New College class must see Ms. René Caputo in Room 203A Roosevelt Hall.

Hofstra University’s Zarb School of Business is accredited by AACSB - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The School offers a full range of courses during the summer to enable full-time, part-time, and visiting students to continue their studies year-round. Courses are offered in accounting, business computer information systems, finance, general business, international business, legal studies in business, management, marketing, and quantitative methods. See course listings for complete course requirements and prerequisites, which must be met by all students.
The Zarb School of Business offers students the opportunity to study at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. International Marketing and Principles of International Financial Management are taught in English by Hofstra faculty, and classroom sessions are augmented by field trips to Dutch firms, plant tours, and lectures given by guest speakers. Up to six credits may be taken.
Students also have the opportunity to study international business at Hong-Ik University in Seoul, South Korea. The course is taught in English and includes lectures by guest speakers from government and business and on-site plant tours.

The mission of the Hofstra University School of Education and Allied Human Services is to prepare scholar-practitioners in education, health, counseling and therapeutic services. Our curriculum reflects contemporary issues in school and society, with multicultural and global perspectives, and provides a sound base of educational theory and practice.
Hofstra’s School of Education and Allied Human Services is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) on all levels. The accreditation includes the basic and advanced levels of professional education programs offered at Hofstra University.
The School of Education and Allied Human Services prepares teachers, administrators, counselors, therapists, and health care services administrators at the undergraduate, master’s, C.A.S., and doctoral levels.

The School of Communication at Hofstra University offers a wide range of courses to meet the challenges of today’s changing world of communication. Students have the opportunity to study with a nationally-recognized faculty, and work in one of the largest state-of-the-art, noncommercial broadcast facilities on the east coast.
The School is composed of three departments: Audio/Video/Film; Journalism, Media Studies and Public Relations; and Speech Communication, Rhetoric, and Performance Studies. Each department provides opportunities for personal self-expression, scholarly inquiry, and technical mastery. Within each department you will find a curriculum that explores the theoretical and practical nature of communication. The School offers the bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees as well as a master of arts degree in speech communication, and rhetorical studies.
