ITAL 157 - (LT) Contemporary Italian Women’s FictionSemester Hours: 3 Periodically
Readings of representative works including both short stories and novels. Exploration of recurrent themes such as sisterhood, violence against women, misogyny, female desire, female agency, the language of emotion, subjectivity and the body. The course will analyze the ways in which the Bildungsroman, the historical novel and the postmodern novel are impacted by the gender of the author.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: ITAL 130 or permission of instructor.
