This course prepares the educator to manage learning environments and student behaviors in special education and inclusive classroom settings. Readings and in-class simulations highlight the importance of creating learning environments that optimize learning through teamwork and collaboration, problem-solving strategies, and groupings that enhance student engagement and encourage the fostering of understanding and respect for students. A focus on the principles and practices of collaboration of teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, parents, and students to strengthen educational partnerships are highlighted through culturally responsive instruction, universal design for learning, and teamwork to assess, plan, and implement effective classroom environments.
