MATH 245 - Probability and Statistical Inference Semester Hours: 3 Discrete and continuous distributions, limit theorems, sampling, the practice of sampling, point and interval estimates, hypothesis testing, large-scale and multiple hypotheses testing, linear and nonlinear models, distribution-free methods, distribution, and density-based classification and clustering. Additional considerations of specific problems arising from large data sets. Basic to intermediate programming in R.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Prerequisites: Course open to graduate students in Computer Science / Data Science, all others need permission from Computer Science Graduate Director.
