MGT 157S: Inclusive Leadership: Leading Effectively Across Differences

Workplaces today require continuous interactions between coworkers, customers, and other stakeholders who come from diverse backgrounds and who have varied personal and professional experiences and perspectives.  When managed effectively, these differences can enhance both collaboration and innovation and, in turn, organizational effectiveness and performance.  When ignored, they can have a detrimental impact on employee performance and retention, customer satisfaction, and stakeholder commitment, as well as invite unwelcome publicity and external intervention in organizational affairs.  This course is designed to explore issues and concepts associated with diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion and their impact on organizations, as well as develop self-awareness, critical thinking, and leadership skills needed to effectively lead both diverse teams and global organizations.

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
MGT 101 , junior class standing or above, and any additional prerequisites as stated in the course schedule. As individual subjects are selected, each is assigned a letter (A-Z) which is affixed to the course number. Students may take up to two of these courses to fulfill their major requirements so long as each seminar has a different letter designation. Specific titles and course descriptions for special topics courses are available in the online class schedule.
