DSST 051 - (IS) Deaf CultureSemester Hours: 3 This course explores the culture of Deaf people, a community whose communication system is based on a visual language. The relationship between communication and culture is examined through analysis of language, history, values, and customs of the Deaf community and its interaction with a hearing-dominant society. This course will be conducted in English; knowledge of American Sign Language is not required.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: May be used in partial fulfillment of requirements for a minor in Disability Studies.
