MASS 137 - Entertainment Media: 21st Century Media Management

Semester Hours: 3
This course will examine the American media industry from a business perspective. The course will provide students with detailed insight into the current structures, management, processes, trends, and economics of and controversies surrounding these industries. It will survey the contemporary media business landscape through a broad lens of ethics, economics, and leadership roles and survey a variety of specific topics of concern in media management, including creative management in the arts, branding, and competitive positioning strategies, the business of social media, media, corporate responsibility, and the law, intellectual property in the digital age, market research for media managers, and media sales and sales management.
