JRNL 175 - Advanced Newscast Producing and AnchoringSemester Hours: 2 JRNL 175 students will take what they have learned, producing a live weekly newscast in JRNL 075 and producing a daily, live newscast. Students will serve as the producers, writers, video editors, and anchors of the newscasts. They will apply the editorial judgment they have learned to structure each day’s rundown, gaining additional hands-on experience and enhancing their producing and on-camera skills. Students will put what they learned in JRNL 075 into regular, daily practice to fine-tune their skills and create resume reels for future employment. We will constantly question and explore editorial, ethical, and technological dilemmas that broadcast journalists face in day-to-day news operations. Students will learn to manage their work hours, much like freelance personnel do in the industry. Students are required to be available for production work beyond scheduled class time.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: JRNL 075. No liberal arts credit. Lab fees are additional. Pass/D+/D/Fail grade only.
