MFT 268 - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Couples and Families Semester Hours: 3 This class takes students through a thorough exploration of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in the context of the treatment of couple and family issues. Considerations will include the theory underlying cognitive-behavioral therapy, the origins and evolution of the therapy model, its adaptation and integration within systemic therapy, cognitive and emotional processes of individuals, couples, and families; assessment methods; and treatment techniques. Students will become familiar and comfortable utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy within couple and family work by utilizing a combination of didactic lectures, demonstration of cognitive-behavioral assessment and intervention techniques, and assessment and intervention practice with case examples.
