NUR 316 - Quality, Improvement Sciences and Innovative Design Thinking Semester Hours: 3 This course is designed to foster the development of advanced skills in applying improvement science and design thinking. This advanced course analyzes measuring quality, patient safety strategies, and programs associated with improved patient care outcomes. The student will be prepared to assume a leadership role in promoting quality and safety in advanced nursing practice. This course will incorporate interdisciplinary professional collaboration into the teaching methodology. Students will apply effective communication to contextualize, analyze and design health care systems. By learning and applying design thinking, students will more effectively solve problems in the advanced practice domain. Seminars focus on the iterative design process as well as techniques to sharpen creative analysis. Guest lectures from other disciplines (e.g., engineering, medicine, etc.) will illustrate different approaches to design thinking. After this course; students will explore skills to conceive, organize, lead, implement, and evaluate successful quality improvement projects
