FIN 236 - FinTech Semester Hours: 3
An overview of important technology developments that are fundamentally altering the financial services industry. Discussions include how these technologies create value in the financial sector by reducing unit processing costs and asymmetric information, creating network effects, and leveraging economies of scales. Topics cover an overview of the FinTech industry, distributed ledgers, blockchains, initial coin offerings (ICOs), cryptocurrencies, applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning to the finance industry, from credit scoring models in marketplace lending and crowdfunding to algorithmic trading and robo-advising.
