DPT 540 - Advanced Electives: Advanced Pediatrics Semester Hours: 1.0 Advanced electives subjects are chosen from topics/subjects offered by the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. This course is offered to provide specialized leaning experiences related to the student’s topic of interest, which are not available through formal course offerings. This course covers advanced pediatric physical therapy knowledge and skills. Complex patient conditions in pediatric physical therapy including musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovasculara nd pulmonary conditions, genetic disorders, and pediatric disorders will be discussed. The course covers advanced knowledge and psychomotor skills related to different practice settings in pediatric physical therapy such as hospital-based, Neonatal Instinctive Care Unit (NICU), school-based, and early intervention settings. This includes advanced assessment and intervention techniques. THis course covers evidence related to different physical therapy interventions used in pediatric physical therapy.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Prerequisites for this course include all preceding coursework in the curriculum. Any exceptions require approval from the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program Director.
