DSST 199 - Internship in Disability StudiesSemester Hours: 1-3 DSST 002 This course allows students to expand their understanding of disability in a professional setting.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: DSST 001 or DSST 002 . Disability Studies minors and students majoring in Pre-Health with a concentration in Disability Studies only, and permission of the program director. Minimum GPA of 2.5. A minimum of 28 hours of on-site work per semester hour is required, accompanied by a minimum of 10 hours of academic work per semester hour—for example, reading, reflection, research, and a term paper or final project, to be determined by the faculty adviser in conjunction with the student. There will be a minimum of three meetings with the faculty adviser over the course of the internship. Grades will be based on both on-site evaluation and academic work. An on-site evaluation of “poor” will result in a grade no higher than a C. May not be taken on a Pass/D+/D/Fail basis. May be repeated once for a total of up to six credits.
