HADM 283A - AI, ML and Robotics for Medical Informatics
This course aims to provide graduate students in Medical Informatics with a foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Robotics in the context of healthcare and patient care. The course accommodates students from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of these technologies and their practical applications in the healthcare industry. Through lectures, discussions, and hands-on projects, students will gain knowledge of the fundamental concepts, techniques, and ethical considerations associated with AI, ML, and Robotics, as well as develop skills to apply these technologies to improve patient care.

The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence in Healthcare Information Technology is forcing health care leaders to consider how they will manage the pressing need to deliver innovative solutions while addressing the moral and ethical issues facing AI today. This course provides a deep understanding of AI’s potential and limitations in healthcare and business, emphasizing privacy, regulatory compliance, security, and fairness, which students will use to design and evaluate frameworks for responsible AI adoption in healthcare and business.
