An advanced in-depth treatment of special topics. Current topics are explored through a variety of methods, such as lectures, projects and case studies. As individual subjects are selected, each is assigned a letter which is affixed to the course number. Students may take up to two of these courses to fulfill their major requirements so long as each seminar has a different letter designation. Specific titles and course descriptions for special topics courses are available in the online class schedule.

The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence in Healthcare Information Technology is forcing health care leaders to consider how they will manage the pressing need to deliver innovative solutions while addressing the moral and ethical issues facing AI today. This course provides a deep understanding of AI’s potential and limitations in healthcare and business, emphasizing privacy, regulatory compliance, security, and fairness, which students will use to design and evaluate frameworks for responsible AI adoption in healthcare and business.
