This course provides an introduction to the theory and methods of linguistics, the scientific study of language. Topics include the universal properties of human language, phonetic, phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic structures and analysis, pragmatic analysis of meaning in context, and the nature and form of grammar.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
