DPT 509 - Therapeutic Exercise Semester Hours: 3 This course provides in-depth study of therapeutic procedures and techniques used in physical therapy in order to formulate exercise programs for diverse patient and client populations. This course provides the student the opportunity to learn how to effectively prescribe therapeutic exercise using a clinical reasoning model. The course covers contents related to rate of recovery, complications, precautions, and contraindications of different types of therapeutic exercises to include strength, endurance, mobility, flexibility, relaxation and coordination. This course provides the students with the opportunity to apply and practice therapeutic procedures and techniques during classroom lab activities. This course covers dosing of exercises including frequency, intensity, and duration of treatment.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Prerequisites for this course include all preceding coursework in the curriculum. Any exceptions require approval from the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
