DPT 544 - Clinical Integration IV Semester Hours: 4 Clinical Integration IV is the fourth of five clinical full-time supervised clinical experiences. Clinical Integration IV consists of eight (8) weeks of full-time clinical internship in a clinical environment. This course allows the student to demonstrate competence of the clinical skills and knowledge when working with a diverse patient population. This clinical internship is designed to integrate and apply academic preparation in the clinical setting and further refine and enhance students’ clinical skills. This clinical course cultivates the development, application, and analysis of physical therapy knowledge, skills, and behaviors appropriate to patient and practice management. Students will have the opportunity to practice more comprehensive and complex evaluation, treatment planning, and intervention skills that are appropriate for their development and progression at that juncture of the program. Students are required to have a full caseload by the end of this clinical internship with feedback on very complex patient conditions and rare cases. Demonstration of safety, professionalism, communication, decision-making skills, critical thinking skills, and assuming responsibility for learning should be clearly evident throughout the affiliation.
