ELED 113 - Human Development Birth–Grade 2

Semester Hours: 3
This course explores the physical, health, nutrition, safety, social, emotional, aesthetic, linguistic, and cognitive characteristics of young children from diverse sociocultural backgrounds with an emphasis on implications for group care and education. Global perspectives on prenatal development through the primary school years frame discussion of both typical and atypical growth and learning. Students must spend a minimum of 50 clock hours in a public prekindergarten or registered nursery school for observations and reflective participation under close clinical supervision. Students must provide transportation to and from assigned schools.
