ENGG 127 - Medical Device 3D Computer-Aided Design

Semester Hours: 1
A parametric computer-aided design (CAD) program, including Autodesk Inventor and Fusion 360, is now essential to biomedical product development. Today’s medical device manufacturers, designers, engineers, scientists, students, and hobbyists are using CAD tools to conceptualize electromechanical design ideas and sketches into 3-dimensional (3D) models for prototyping. We will learn to model basic medical device components and assemblies, use standard fasteners and materials from the library, perform static stress simulation to ensure design integrity, make design adjustments, then present as an exploded view drawing with labels for parts and important features and dimensions in preparation for manufacturing.
