RELI 082 - (HP) Gender and Sexuality in the Hebrew BibleSemester Hours: 3 Periodically
A literary, historical, and cultural analysis of dimensions of gender and sexuality in the Hebrew Bible. Through a close reading of biblical literature and in dialogue with various bodies of scholarship, this course examines issues such as patriarchy and its relation to the production of Hebrew Bible literature; gender relations; sexuality and society; goddess worship; sexual violence; and gender aspects of political, legal, economic, and religious life in ancient Israel.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Credit will be given for this course or JWST 082, not both.
