Students explore how the multi-billion-dollar industry generates revenue through media rights, sponsorships, and marketing while considering legal, ethical, and leadership issues. Through discussions and assignments, students critique how business decisions—such as click-driven digital strategies and the rise of sports betting—influence media content and audience engagement. The course highlights how these practices affect both industry employees and consumers, offering insight into how sports media balances its roles in generating profit, providing information, and delivering entertainment.
