EADM 261 - Schools as Social Organizations: Working with People Once a year
Examination of the human dimensions of organizational leadership. Building upon
basic theory and research in the areas of motivation, communication, and group
dynamics, students are encouraged to examine ways in which leaders, through their
interaction with others, affect the quality of performance within the school setting.
Special emphasis is given to the development of interpersonal and group communication
skills which enhance individual motivation and organizational effectiveness. Competencies
are developed through case studies, role-playing, lecture/discussion, team and
individual assignments and substantive readings. Achievement is determined through
the quality and degree of mastery demonstrated in the undertaking of these activities.
