JRNL 211 - Advanced News Reporting and Writing Semester Hours: 3
Fall, Spring, Summer
This course will teach students the basic skills necessary to research,
report and write news stories. Students will learn how to evaluate
potential stories, use computer databases, conduct interviews and
structure hard news and feature stories for print, broadcast and the
Internet. This is a writing-intensive course, which will emphasize
clarity and accuracy of expression. Students will also be instructed to
new trends in media and controversies surrounding them.
Prerequisites & Course Notes Journalism
students may not take this course on a Pass/Fail basis. Students
not matriculating in the M.A. Journalism program may take the course as
a Pass/Fail elective. Lab fees additional.
