COUN 237 - Counseling Families of the Elderly Semester Hours: 3 Spring
Basic developmental processes which reflect the fundamental changes occurring
during the aging process are examined initially from a sociohistorical perspective.
Subsequently, the unique features of later adult development and its psychological
effects on the person’s family are examined. Concerned with the nonphysical development
of older individuals and the effects of these life cycle growth patterns and transitions
on their families. Specific counseling theories and interventions are presented
for each area of transition.
Prerequisites & Course Notes COUN 223 or permission of program adviser.
