ENGL 192U - Folk and Fairy Tales in English and American Literature

Semester Hours: 3

This course will explore classic English and American tales of enchantment and disenchantment. While we will read a few of the classics from the traditional European canon of Perrault and Grimm, we will focus mainly on how the traditional takes of ghosts and goblins, witches and fairies inform works in English, in particular those of Robert Burns, Oscar Wilde, Washington Irving, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Edgar Allen Poe, Margaret Atwood, and Anne Sexton.

January 2009 Offering:
10183: M-F; 12:50-4:35 p.m.; Harshbarger; 135 Gallon Wing
