FRLT 43 - (LT, CC) Decolonizing the Mind: Contemporary Literature From Africa to Southeast Asia

Semester Hours: 3
This is an examination of literary voices from Francophone countries including Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia. Topics include decolonization and the African identity, the search for self, the contradictions of life in the colonies, and racism. Readings include works by Memmi, Ben Jelloun, and Snow-Senghor. All works are read and discussed in English.

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
Same as AFST 43. (Formerly Decolonizing the Mind: Contemporary Literature From Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Caribbean.)
