CLL 151 - (LT) Psychoanalysis and LiteratureSemester Hours: 3 This course will introduce the impact of Freud’s theories of psychoanalysis (i.e., the Oedipal Complex, the “uncanny” dream interpretation, wish fulfillment, etc.) on literature, in particular, and on the arts, in general (surrealist art, films of Hitchcock), as well as the impact of literature and philosophy on the psychoanalytic technique on Freud. The readings include: Wilhelm Jensen, Gradiva; Sigmund Freud, The Interpretation of Dreams; The Uncanny, and other essays; Sophocles, Oedipus the King and D.H. Lawrence, Sons and Lovers.
