PHI 10 - (HP) Introduction to Philosophy

Semester Hours: 3-4
Fall, Spring
An introduction to philosophy through the study of classical and recent treatments of philosophical problems. Consideration of such topics as rationality, knowledge and certainty, aesthetic evaluation, the existence of God, the mind and its place in nature, freedom and determinism, responsibility, blame and punishment, morality and altruism. Course is designed to provide a foundation for more advanced courses in philosophy.

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
Credit given for this course or New College HPB 1, not both. (Formerly PHIL 5.)
