ENGL 192M - Readings in Literature: Classic Fairy Tales and Their Modern Retellings This course will focus on fairy tales collected and told by the old masters—Charles Perrault, the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen—and retold by later English writers: Roald Dahl, Angela Carter, Anne Sexton, Margaret Atwood. We will consider the social, psychological, and artistic signi. cance of the tales various versions, as we seek to understand the remarkable hold these stories have had on our culture.
