FHL 3 - What and How of First Readings

If you characteristically find yourself with nothing to say when called upon to read a particular text for the first time and then write about it, you may profit from this course, which is designed to model what goes on in the process of developing literary interpretation. To that end, the materials that have been selected for the class are texts that I have never read. We will read them together, for the first time. As we do so, we will discuss various ways that readers can begin to negotiate the interpretive demands of a particular text without prior experience with it.
