ANTH 116 - (CC) Religion in Cross-Cultural PerspectiveSemester Hours: 3 An examination of various approaches to the interpretation of religious beliefs and practices. Emphasis on nonwestern belief systems, theories of the function of religion in society, uses of magic and divination within religious traditions, and religion as a mechanism of both social control and social change. Topics include symbolism, myths and rituals in selected societies and the role of the religious practitioner.
