FA 202C - New Media Design III, Intermediate Motion Graphics and Sound Design Semester Hours: 3 Fall
Motion graphic design is the use of typography, digitally manipulated images and sounds, to produce new media spots and Web-based movies. Students learn the planning and production tools necessary for motion graphics and sound design, including treatments, storyboards and software prototypes. Because motion graphics communication is closely associated with culture, an awareness of the nature of people’s lives and the methods they use to communicate among themselves and with others is central to this course. Within the assignment structure, there is the opportunity for the development of an individual creative style. This course covers the technical, aesthetic and practical aspects of planning, creating and producing motion graphics and sound for digital media. Individual blog writing and presentations from a blog foster discussion of contemporary design issues.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: FA 27 or permission of instructor. Lab fee additional. Credit given for this course or FA 102C, not both. May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
