PHI 233 - Environmental Ethics and Ecophilosophy Semester Hours: 3 Periodically
Exploration of environmental morality as based on the science and metaphysics of ecology. A key aim of the course is to clarify and enrich conceptions of the relationship between nature and culture. Practical concerns include population and pollution, resource protection, and interspecies relations. Theoretical concerns include the question of which beings or things have ethical significance and are thus entitled to ethical consideration, and the ways we attempt to explain and justify claims about ethical significance.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Credit for this course or PHI 133, not both.
