LAW 2911 - Managed Care and the Evolution of the Doctor-Patient Relationship
This course first examines the law of the doctor-patient relationship and then the law applicable to the establishment and regulation of managed care. Ultimately, the course focuses on the changes to the doctor patient relationship brought about by managed care and on the legal, ethical and societal considerations of these changes. While assignments from a textbook provide the basics of the course, emphasis is placed on current events and ongoing changes in public policy and in the law. The requirements of the course can be satisfied either by writing an erudite paper or by taking a final exam. Credit is available for Writing Requirement II.
