LAW 2954 - Federal Criminal Law This course examines the exercise of federal jurisdiction to create federal crimes. It starts with a study of the sources of congressional power to criminalize conduct and ends with a study of federal sentencing laws, including forfeiture of assets. The bulk of the course is devoted to some of the most commonly prosecuted federal offenses, other than drug crimes, including mail and wire fraud, extortion, bribery, money laundering, false statements, obstruction of justice, and RICO. The study of these statutes is primarily through cases involving white collar crimes.
