LAW 3709 - Litigation and Drafting Skills

While law school prepares one to “think like a lawyer”, that is only part of the preparation necessary to practice law successfully. Most hiring partners and judges expect law school graduates to be able to draft documents necessary to effectively litigate a case from start to finish. It is simply not enough to be able to draft a memorandum of law. It is necessary to properly and professionally draft all of the papers necessary to get your case before the court and to persuade the court that your side is right. Assignments include drafting pleadings, orders to show cause, notices of motion and affidavits. After review and critique, assignments may be rewritten. This course may satisfy Writing Requirement II.
