SPCH 264: Speech and Language Pathology in the Schools Semester Hours: 2 This course explores the culture, research and professional practices that guide decision making in school settings. Topics include: educational laws and regulations, philosophies of education, models of service delivery, individualized educational programming, rights and responsibilities of teachers and other staff, establishing entry and exit criteria for speech-language services, family education, language and curriculum development, relating oral language to written expression, multicultural and bilingual considerations.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: SPCH 209, 228, 241, 243 and 260S may be corequisite. This course is required for students seeking New York State certification as a Teacher of Students With Speech and Language Disabilities. May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
