LAW 2983 - Advanced Topics in Family Law This course will cover selected topics that are not traditionally covered in the basic Family Law course or in Child, Family, and State. The topics may vary by semester. Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the law’s regulation of the intimate relationships of adults beyond the traditional marriage and divorce rubric (e.g., cohabitation, common-law marriage, same-sex marriage, civil unions, domestic partnership, heartbalm laws), the law of parentage (e.g., unwed fathers, same-sex co-parenting, surrogacy), the legal regulation of sex and sexuality, and the regulation of families by federal law. Selected topics will be covered in depth and will incorporate contemporary, historical, and interdisciplinary perspectives.
Prerequisites & Notes Pre-Req: Family Law or Family Law (with Skills)
